After being quiet here on the blog for over a year, we have big news! Violet gave birth to a healthy litter of 8 puppies on May 13, 2026. We've been busy growing and naming these babies, and we are delighted to share them with the world! Kicking things off is Gracie! Per tradition, we name at least one puppy a Bible name or reference. I named Gracie for the grace of God. One of my favorite verses is Ephesians 2:8, "For by grace are ye saved through faith..." Gracie is a salt and pepper female who tipped the scale at birth at 6 ounces. Next is Flicka - named by our daughter MJ in honor of her love for Flicka the horse. (She watched both the film and read the book in the past year.) Flicka was one the smallest at birth at 5 ounces. Meet Autumn! Born in May, we still chose Autumn as this salt & pepper female's name. She is the darkest salt & pepper female, and she has a large white patch on her chest. At birth, she was 6 ounces. Yes, this litter has some boys - let's start with Jack. Jack was named by our son EJ in honor of the "good, old bulldog, Jack" in the Little House books. Jack weighed 7 ounces when he was born. And another boy - this is Leroy. Leroy was named by our son JJ simply because he likes the name. He debated several days on his name and finally landed on Leroy. Leroy was 6 ounces at birth. And here we have Sadie - the first black & silver of the bunch to introduce to you. Sadie was named by our son AJ who chose the name because he likes it. As with JJ, he took days to settle on this name. Sadie came into the world at 7 ounces. My last boy to introduce you to is Tyke - a light salt & pepper male. Tyke was named by our son CJ who chose his name almost immediately because he likes it. Tyke from the get-go was the easiest to pick out of the litter because of his light salt & pepper coat. He weighed 6 ounces at birth. Meet Tatiana - a black & silver female who looks very similar to her sister, Sadie. Tatiana is a bit darker than Sadie. Tatiana was named by my husband because he's always like the names Tachiana (grandmother of this litter) and Tatiana. Tatiana's birth weight was 5 ounces. The mama and puppies are doing very well! Puppies spend their first week of life nursing and snuggling up with their mama and littermates. This litter has looked a little different for us as we are in the midst of some major home remodel. In keeping with our philosophy to raise our puppies where we do life, these puppies have joined us in our RV. They are thriving among lots of snuggles in camper bunk beds. No eyes or ears are open yet, but it is coming soon. Most of the litter has doubled their birthweight; a milestone we liked to see reached at 7-10 days. I will close with a few snapshots of their first week of life.
